山梨県馬術競技場で開催する「八ヶ岳ホースショーinこぶちさわ」は、馬のまち北杜市小淵沢の、馬を象徴するイベントとして令和元年度で41回目を迎える。八ヶ岳南麓高原の恵まれた自然環境の中で、暮らす人、訪れる人、また、子どもから高齢者までが広く集い、ふれあうと共に、観光、商業、農業などの連携による産業と地域活性化を目的として開催する。親子を対象にした馬にまつわるミニゲームから始まり、ホースショーでの人馬一体の華麗なる演技、そして、高原の夜空を彩る打ち上げ花火でクライマックスを迎える夏の一大イベントである。

　北杜市小淵沢地内には、県馬術競技場を中心に民間の乗馬クラブが8か所あり、約200頭の馬が飼育されている。また、大切に育てられたその馬は、調教馬として高い評価を得ており、多くの戦国ドラマ、映画などに出演している。

　本市を訪れる観光課に魅力的で、感動を与えるイベントとして実施し、北杜市の魅力をアピールするとともに、誘客の促進を図る参加型事業を組み込みながら、賑わいと動きのある、全国に誇れる勇壮で伝統ある地域イベントとして一層の工夫を凝らしながら実施することとする。
